Automotive Technology Facilities
The Automotive Technology program offers a comprehensive curriculum
geared toward the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) standards.
All eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification areas are offered,
enabling students to prepare for technician certification. Students
can earn one and/or two year certificates, or an associate degree in Automotive
Technology. Although not part of the certificate or degree program,
the Clean Air Car Course (Smog Check Technician class) is offered every
two years.
The Automotive Technology Center is located in the Madrone Building,
which houses both a classroom as well as a fully equipped automotive lab.
Each class has an instructional staff of two, which provides a better opportunity
for individual instruction.

Employment Opportunities
The Automotive Industry is progressively in need of qualified
technicians. As technology expands, so does the demand for competent
technicians. With a certificate or degree in Automotive Technology,
finding employment in all locations should be relatively easy. A
technician can enhance his/her employability by gaining ASE, Smog Check
Technician, and other certifications. Wages are typically higher
than the median wages in most locations, and varies between $18,000 and
$70,000+, depending on qualifications and experience. Some technicians
have pursued higher education and have qualified for positions such as
service managers, instructors, or representatives with the California Bureau
of Automotive Repair and other government agencies.
